phases and faces.

such a significant day for the people who've made a significant difference in my life.

firstly, i hope all of you are happy, healthy, safe and sound. hope everybody had a good break, a meaningful chinese new year with food, family, friends and laughter. hope the windy breeze that spring brings blew the woes and fatigue from a year that has past all away. hope those that needed a good 'wash' had their machines and detergents working fine. hope that moving, settling and adapting to a new place has been smooth, and the transition - going along fine, of not already complete.

typing this is making me quite depressed, but there's this awkward sense coming from it that somehow comforts me just as well.

and so we're moving on, people. (can't describe how saying this actually makes me feel inside)
but just like all good movies and all good books, there's always a scene where the lead character senses/feels that something is different, a moment of self-realization (often unexpectedly) that things, times, people, have changed.

a moment that marks a new phase in life.

in this next phase, please be happy :)
please be healthy
please be strong
please be a fighter
please be hopeful
please be loving
and please, never give up! :)

to commemorate, i shall upload the pictures our dear zhului has beautifully and meaningfully edited!

and something my current korean obsession has taught me well :)

Aja aja, 파이팅!! (translates: People, FIGHTING!!)

the time has come, for all of us to SHINE. :)

go get em' C1/10!!

"The mayonnaise jar"

After the ahma's secret recipe.. maybe is time for a Grandma Story :) is actually a story from my friend's blog.. is a story that perhaps most of us have come across.. but too many of a time, we forgot about it..
Sometimes in life, it may happen that subconsciously we are following the flow of the crowd.. following the priorities of others.. let this story be a beautiful reminder for us :)

When things in your life seem , almost too much to handle,
When 24 Hours in a day is not enough, Remember the mayonnaise jar and 2 cups of coffee.

A professor stood before his philosophy class And had some items in front of him.
When the class began, wordlessly, He picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls.
He then asked the students, if the jar was full.
They agreed that it was.
The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar.
He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open Areas between the golf balls.
He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.
The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full.
The students responded with a unanimous 'yes.' The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.
'
Now,' said the professor, as the laughter subsided, 'I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things - family, children, health, Friends, and Favorite passions – Things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, Your life would still be full.
The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, house, and car.
The sand is everything else --The small stuff. 'If you put the sand into the jar first,' He continued, 'there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, You will never have room for the things that are important to you.
So... Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play With your children. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your partner out to dinner. There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal. '
Take care of the golf balls first -- The things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.'

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented.
The professor smiled. 'I'm glad you asked'. It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend.' :)

Ahma's SECRET RECIPE

Secret Recipe no1 ~ PULUT INTI

What do you need for the PULUT???

- A big plate

- 1kg of pulut (glutinous rice) *to make 30 packets*

- RM2 of coconut milk

- 1/2 tablespoon (tbs) of salt

- Blue flowers or colouring

- white beans

- pandan leaves

Steps

1. Dip the beans in water for 4-5 hours

2. Dip the blue flowers in hot water and filter it after that

3. Dip the pulut into the filtered blue water for at least 3 hours

4. Mix the coconut milk with the salt

5. Cookwater, put the plate on top to steam the kuih later..

6. When the water is boiled, put the white beans first and the pulut and pandan leaves on top ( use hand to shift the pulut from the blue water into the plate, don't put all the water in).. add a little bit of water just nice to cover the pulut.

7. Steam for 20 minutes, then open and mix the pulut, after that steam for another 10 minutes. (can check with hands to see whether it is cooked)

8. Next, bring the plate out and while it is still ho, add in the coconut milk and stir it with the pulut..

9. Lastly, use a banana leaf or plate to cover the pulut to let "sauna" abit.. * this is a secret step to make the pulut taste nice!*

What do u need to make the INTI?

- 0.5 kg of white coconut ( the one that we fry fry fry)

- 0.25 kg of brown sugar

- 2 tbs of white sugar

- pandan leaves

- starch

STEPS

1. cook ( using small fire) one full cup of water with the brown sugar , pandan leaves , white sugar until it boil

2. When it boiled, put in the white coconut and stir it for a while

3. add some starch ( i forgot what's the powder name in English, is called mu shu fen in mandarin, jz add one tbs) and stir

4. While it is cold, make the INTI into small small ball

Lastly, wrap the PULUT and INTI with banana leaves

STEPS

1. place the pulut (with round inti ontop) on the centre of the banana leaf

2. flip the lateral sides to the center, as the pulut and inti is already in the centre.. so what u will get after folding the sides medially is from something like this mailto:l@l becomes <@>

actually the limbs of the horizontal "V" will be longer and they will overlap each other.. so place the left upper"V" limb superiorly and the right upper "V" limb inferiorly.. then place the left lower "V" limb inferiorly and the right lower "V" limb superiorly.. * i hope u still get what i mean by now =Pp*

3. Lastly, fold both overlapped limbs (upper and lower) posteriorly to the pulut... so the pulut will be sitting on edge of the overlapped limbs to prevent it from open...

Wa.......... I m rly tired of giving the instructiong of folding by now.. haha.. hope u all will get what i mean la.. .. if u all can get, u guys mz be genius d! haha
